Mrs. Karla Schmelzenbach

Hello Purple Sage Families! My name is Karla Schmelzenbach and I am your school counselor at Purple Sage Elementary. I love our students and school community! I have a passion for elementary students and believe these years are pivotal for emotional, social, and academic development.  I will be dedicated to working with all students to be the best they can be and to help them grow toward their full potential.  

A little bit about me:  I received my school counseling degree from Northwest Nazarene University.  As a school counselor, I like to help students discover their own solutions to problems.  I believe in encouragement and focusing on each child's strengths to achieve their goals.  As an elementary school counselor, I provide classroom guidance lessons for grades K-5, small group counseling opportunities, and individual counseling on an as-needed basis.  I am also the Section 504 Case Manager for Purple Sage.  Additionally, I co-facilitate our 5th grade student leadership team and assist with the implementation of our school-wide PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports) framework.  A fun fact about me is that I love being outside as much as possible no matter what the season is–hiking, walking, cross-country skiing, gardening, and even pulling weeds!
